Dia dhiabh,

I'm hoping to get some feedback regarding the SMS character set for Ireland and
why people are charged extra for using a sínte fada in text messages longer than
70 characters. Is anybody aware of the decision made by the state to use an
English character set?

In Belgium, when you buy a phone you can choose an SMS character set from the
three National languages of Belgium. But as far as I'm aware we are not given
such a choice in Ireland.

I'd appreciate any feedback you may have.

I'm not in Ireland, but I agree that it isn't fair.
