The IVRLA is proud to present the final in our series of launch events,
which is part of the Innovation Dublin 2010 Festival.
Professor Mary E. Daly, Professor Diarmaid Ferriter, Professor Ríonach Uí
Ógain, and Dr Catherine Cox will discuss how the IVRLA Collections can
inform users about aspects of twentieth-century Ireland. Topics range from
folklore material relating to Emigration and memories of the Great Famine;
medicine and public health; and political collections relating to the Rising and the emergence and
development of the Irish state and how this has been reviewed and
reinterpreted, particularly in the digital age. Specific IVRLA historical
collections will be discussed and the seminar will conclude with a
round-table discussion of issues and experiences in integrating digital
resources with historical research...
